In March 1983, following an acrimonious divorce two years before,
Katherine committed her life to Jesus Christ. She was caring for her
three boys who were 10, 3 and 1 years old. She was running a business
and looking after the children, her father-in-law who was 80 years old
and her mother who had retired early due to ill health. She says; Despite
the fact that my circumstances hadn't changed, my heart had and very
quickly I began to experience the very real joy of the Lord. Having known
deep despair, I now had hope, knowing that God had a plan and purpose for
my life. In one short week, I realised that God loved me, that I could
love myself, and that other people actually loved me too.

God had promised me that he would restore me as a woman and also that He
would restore the years of the locusts’ (Joel 2 v25 & 26) and thus began
my restoration. I had lost my identity and had a great feeling of failure
and rejection.
Though life was difficult over the years, as a family we have seen the
faithfulness of God. I held on to the promise that God gave me many
years ago:-
'All your Sons will be taught of the Lord and great will be their peace
(Isaiah 54 v13)
God has answered so many prayers. I am incredibly proud of my boys and
what they have each achieved and I know that what God has begun he will
complete.

Following the death of my father-in-law in early 1984, I reluctantly sold
the house that we had built only three years earlier and moved south. God
spoke to me very clearly and promised that He would restore it to me. Over
the years I had to lay the vision down many times, but it would never
really go away. In 1998 we found a plot of land with wonderful views of
the sea and the Sussex Downs, it seemed that after 12 years of planning
the dream would finally come true. We were given a Prophetic word about a
house with a balcony, however we were unable to buy the land and once again
we had to lay it down. At a Christian Conference early the following year
Joyce Meyer said "If you will build the house of God, He will build yours".
That excited me and I asked God what I should give in the offering. I was
stunned when He told me, however, I decided to take God at His word. On
returning home from our trip, God gave me a revelation and I approached
the owner of the land once more. We actually agreed the sale only 10 days
after I had given the offering.

In June 2000 the house, called Goshen, (Genesis 47v11) was
finished, complete with balcony, we have the most wonderful
views towards the sea and the Sussex Downs. The house has
often been described as an 'oasis and a refuge'.
We gave the house back to God to use as he desires and we have
had a constant stream of visitors ever since, often people we
didn't know initially, but many have become lifelong friends.
We have been so blessed. The house was valued a few months
after completion, and I realized that God had returned my
giving 'onehundredfold'. I was amazed. God has restored to me
so much more than I had lost.
No words can begin to express my love and gratitude for all
that God has done, for the promises that have already been
fulfilled and those that I know are still to come.
